Greetings readers! One project we have been wanting to work on is making the naiya (the building next to the main house) look nicer. The naiya was used mostly for storage, but we removed most of the things from inside. Since the place is quite bare, this opens up lots opportunities to turn into anything we want! The first step we needed to do was to cover the walls which are made out of mud and straw so the place gets dusty quite quickly. We had to figure out a way to keep the mud from crumbling so we decided to put up wood! The process took a little longer than expected but I think the result is quite nice. I was only able to complete one room, so please stay tuned for the rest of the renovation!

A local timber business in the village was kind enough to let us use wood they couldn't use. This made our renovation process very thrifty and eco friendly;) We were also able to borrow various tools from generous villagers too! It was my first time using a power saw as well, very exciting!
